Orna Wigs: Market Leader on Both Tracked Keywords

What the reports show
The Cleanest Comparison We Have Published
All four scans use the same 9 × 9 grid, the same five-mile radius and the same centre point — 39.371064, −76.720070. Nothing about the measurement changed between April and August, so the two dates are directly comparable.
Two numbers do most of the work. Average rank position is the mean Map Pack position across the points where the salon was found, so lower is better. Share of Local Voice is the percentage of the grid where it held a top-three position, and it is the figure Local Falcon uses to rank every business in a market against each other.
A wig salon is not a home service contractor, and this is the one client on this site outside our usual verticals. The mechanics are identical: one physical location, a five-mile catchment, and a Map Pack deciding who gets found.

“wig shop”
The commercial term: somebody searching “wig shop” is looking for a place to go. In April the salon held a top-three position at a quarter of the grid and sat 32.10 Share of Local Voice points behind the market leader. By August it held top three at 74% of the grid, and the report names it as the leader.

“wigs”
The broad head term, and a far larger field — 153 competing businesses inside the same five-mile radius by August, against 103 for “wig shop”. Average rank position roughly halved and the salon finished first here too, though top-three coverage at 40% shows there is still ground to take on this one.

The competitive picture
First on Both, in Two Different Fields
Local Falcon ranks every business it finds by Share of Local Voice, so market position is stated in the report rather than inferred from it.
In April the salon trailed the leader by 32.10 points on “wig shop” and by 16.05 on “wigs”. Both August reports return the same line: you are the market leader. The two fields are not the same size — 103 competing businesses on the narrower term, 153 on the broader one — and both grew across the window.

The Website, Not Just the Map
The grid measures the Map Pack. This measures the website. Daily organic impressions sat at effectively zero until August 2025, then stepped up to a running band of roughly 100 to 200 a day and have held there since, across sixteen months of Search Console history.
These are different surfaces and we keep them apart: a grid scan records the local map results, Search Console records the classic organic listings underneath.
Exhibit 04 · AI search
Appearing Inside AI Answers
Search Console has a Generative AI panel that reports impressions from Google’s AI features separately from ordinary results. It is currently the only place Google shows this, and most sites have nothing in it at all.
This one does: 271 impressions from AI features between May and August 2026, climbing over the period. That is the argument our Generative Engine Optimization page makes, measured on a live site rather than asserted.
The volume is small in absolute terms and we are not going to dress it up. What matters is that it is not zero and it is rising, in a surface that did not exist as a reportable metric a year ago.
What produced it
The Work Behind the Grid
A single-location retailer has one advantage a service area business does not: a real address Google can anchor to. The problem is the opposite one — a fixed pin means visibility falls away with distance, and the catchment for a specialty salon is far wider than the few blocks around its door.
That is the relevance-radius problem described on our SEO for brick and mortar retail page, and the Map Pack side of it is the work set out under Google Maps optimization.
The two keywords were treated as separate ranking problems rather than one. “Wig shop” carries retail intent and a smaller field; “wigs” is broader and more competitive. They moved at different rates, which is exactly why they are shown separately here rather than averaged into a single number.
Want to See Your Own Grid?
The April scans were run before any work began, which is the only reason the August ones mean anything. We will run the same 9 × 9 grid on your business and market and show you where your visibility currently ends. You can also see the same work in Las Vegas.
